Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
